The Gumiao River Grand Canyon Scenic Area is located about 3 kilometers southeast of Huayuan County, 30 kilometers from Shibadong Village, 35 kilometers from Biancheng Chadong, 45 kilometers from Aizhai Bridge, 76 kilometers from Furong Town, 70 kilometers from Mengdong River Rafting, 108 kilometers from Fenghuang Ancient Town, and 128 kilometers from Zhangjiajie, with convenient transportation.
The Gumiao River Grand Canyon is a unique, dangerous, and beautiful canyon with original ecological environment. There are green mountains, clear water, cascading waterfalls, deep caves, and primitive secondary forests. The 100-meter-long glass walkway leads you to the secluded valley with spectacular scenery.
The Gumiao River Grand Canyon has a subtropical monsoon humid climate with distinct four seasons. It is home to national protected rare plants such as Ormosia henryi and Eurycorymbus cavaleriei, as well as wild animals such as giant salamanders, musk, masked civets, and pangolins.
The average annual temperature here is 11.4 degrees Celsius, with the average summer temperature lower than 30 degrees Celsius. Known as a “natural air conditioner” and “oxygen bar”, it is a good place for summer vacation.
